Oct 1, 2013

So I started the walking program today. I went 3.15 miles. I'm making my starting point Winnebago Park in Tomah, WI. The distance I walked today would take me to the McDonalds on the far side of town! I won't be stopping to eat at McDonalds.

My first point of interest will be Wisconsin Dells, WI. It's 48.4 miles from my starting point. At the rate I walked today, I can get to the Dells in 16 days. I'm hoping to put some extra miles in over the next two weeks to shorten the time.

My final destination is 1201 miles from the park. At my current rate, I will need 381 days to complete the trip! I want to complete my journey before Oct 1, 2014. I want to make the journey in one year or less. Who thinks I can do it?! Let's make some noise people!

Tomorrow I'll be posting photos of the park where I started and starting photos of how I look right now. I weighed in this morning at 165.7 lbs. When I moved back to Tomah 2 months ago I weighed 168 lbs. I've lost 2.3 lbs. Not a lot, but it's a start.

I've given up soda and red meat. I also made a deal with my sister to give up Taco Bell (a favorite for us both) for one month starting Sept. 15. I don't miss it at all! I won't be going back on Oct 15.

That's the start. Just the beginning. But a journey of a thousand miles (or in this case, 1201 miles) begins with a single step. I've taken just over 3 miles worth of steps.
